I'm going to try a little something different for the Journal for a while - it will be easier for me to update, and I'll even be able to update on the road. I can post photos faster and easer, and best of all, you guys can leave comments! So look for the new and improved journal at:

Okay, I refuse to say I can't believe how long it's been since I posted, because it seems like I ALWAYS say that! So I'm not gonna!

There's so much to tell ya'll about, I don't even know where to start. Okay, let's start with the thing that's on the home page - the Bead Garage Sale. Like almost everyone out there, when I first started beading, I did a lot of stringing, making jewelry to sell to friends and coworkers and at craft shows. But then the seed bead weaving bug hit, and now I almost never make any other type of jewelry now. Which left me with a LOT of stuff that I no longer use! Lots of bigger beads, Bali silver, fibers, etc. I was talking about it with a couple of friends of mine and they too said they had a lot of materials that they would love to weed out. So we're throwing a combined Bead Garage Sale!

It's Saturday, March 15, from 10am - 2pm. I figure we'll be pretty much sold out by then. The address is: 914 Wild Petunia Way, Pflugerville, Texas. Here's the map on Google - be aware that other maps like Mapquest have my house showing on the wrong part of the street, but the street is right. So just keep driving (the street takes a 90 degree turn, and my house is on the short leg of it) and when you see mobs of crazy women fighting over beads, you'll know you found us. We can even take credit cards!

I spent my 40th birthday in Temple, Texas, at the Texas Bead Retreat, and did we have fun! I'd love to tell you all the crazy and wild things we did, but you know the rules. What happens at the bead retreat stays at the bead retreat! There was no better place to be to celebrate, that's for sure. So that was January.

Then February was here and before I knew it, I was hauling down the road to Tucson for the carnival that is the Gem Shows. I was at a new show this year - The Best Bead Show at the Kino Veteran's Center, and I just loved it. Lots of my friends are also vendors at the show, so we all got a chance to catch up on things. I met new friends too and I have a couple of projects pending as a result of contacts made there. Look for me on The Bead Babe's e-magazine, The Bead Bugle in the future, and I'm submitting a project or two to Step by Step Beads also.

Most significantly, I'm making progress on writing a book, collaborating with the amazing Dolly Ahles as my graphic designer (and butt kicker.) I'm so excited it makes me wiggle. I can't tell you much yet, but when I can, I will! I promise!

I'd better quick publish this and then run - teaching a class tonight and I haven't even showered yet!

I can't wait for 2008 - can you? I'm really excited about all the great places I'm going to be visiting to teach, and I've got projects I am eager to submit for your approval. I've been getting some inquiries about when the beads will arrive for Josephine's Fortune and Russian Splendor so that you guys can order kits for them. Well...soon. I hope. What happened is that we had a run of extra expenses in the household over the last 6 weeks that have slowed down some bead ordering. Kirby vet bills, a new computer, dental work for me, and a new catalytic converter for my car all added up in a big way. So I'm hoping to be able to order the beads for the kit within a few weeks. Stay posted!

But in the meantime, people have been stopping me everywhere, asking about the Renaissance Revisited necklace. Yes! I have kits available right this very moment! So far I've shown this kit at two shows, and sold out by the second day of the show both times. It's been a hard one for me to keep in stock due to variable quality of the Bali silver daisy spacers used in the kit. I'm not willing to use just any old spacers. They've GOT to be good quality. But I finally found a great new supplier who always has them in stock - what a relief. Good suppliers are so important! So anyway, if you've been wanting to buy it, now's a great time. You won't believe how people will respond to it.
